WHAT IS PROGERIA?
Progeria is a genetic mutation that can cause children to age very fast.
Most of the children with the disease die by the age of 13.

GENES
The gene that causes this is called LMNA
The normal LMNA produces the protein lamin A protein which is the structural scaffolding that holds the nucleus of w cell together. The abnormal LMNA messes up the scaffolding, which results in an unstable nucleus in the cell.

Slow development
Hair loss
Wrinkles on the skin
Enlarged head
Physical deformity

GOOD/BAD
This disease is 99% bad!
There is really nothing in the disease that is good.
The only good that comes out of it is that the doctors can do more research and human clinical trials on them.
