BEFORE THE INCIDENT

  • Malala wanted girls to be able to recieve an education all around the world.
  • Malala started a blog for the BBC on educating girls. The site was eventually taken down.
  • This was a result of recieving death threats from groups who were against educating women.
  • In 2011 she recieved a Nobel Peace Prize. By 2012, the Taliban (terrorists) voted to kill her.
  • She was afraid most of the time with whatever she was doing.

Malala wanted to send a message. If someone were to ever try to attack her she had already rehearsed what she would say, in an interview Malala said "I would say 'I even want education for your daughter.'" When asked if she thought they wouldn't kill her she said no, it was for them to know she still wanted it even when she dies.

THE INCIDENT (SHOOTING)

  • On October 9, 2012 Malala boarded her school bus with her friends.
  • She noticed the road was empty, usually there was a large group of people.
  • An unmasked man boarded the bus and asked, "Who is Malala?"
  • He shot 3 bullets, 2 hitting her friends and 1 hitting the left side of her head.
  • The bullet went through her head neck and shoulder.

AFTER THE SHOOTING

  • Malala checked into a hospital in Birmingham (UK).
  • She survived the attack, and is fullfilling her destiny.
  • She was discharged on January 3, 2013.
  • 2 million people signed the Right to Eduaction campaign.
