I: Innocents
Poneyboy tells Johnny a poem of the meaning of innocents. At first Johnny doesn't understand what it means. The boys have gone through so much, the older they get the more they loose inocents.

J: Johny
Johny is a greaser. He is considered the pet of the gang. Johny is considered the pet because his parents beat him.
K: Kids
The fire that Poneyboy and Johnny started, contained kids. The kids were on a school picnic and decided to go into the church, which started on fire. Johnny and Poneyboy go and save the children.

L: Left
Considering Johnny and Poneyboy are in hiding, they have to be very carful not to be seem by anyone. One day, Johnny had up and left. Poneyboy had no idea where he had gone, but Johnny should not have left in the first place.
M: Mumble
Johnny got hurt very badly free saving the kids from the fire. So bad, alone could do was mumble a few words. He had crushed some ribs, which made it very hard to talk.
N: Newspaper
After Johnny killing bob, both Poneyboy and Johnny were in the news paper. Poneyboy and Johnny couldn't see the paper till Dallas brought it to them, because they were in hiding. In the newspaper, you here things about the socs and the greasers.

O: orphan
Due to Poneyboys escape,the govnerment would put Poneyboy is a boys home, or orphanage. This was the last straw for the Curtis boys. They have been threatened by this because of there parents death.

Johnny's parents are very mean. His dad is a drunk and mom doesn't care about Johnny. That is why Johnny is considered the pet of the gang.
