ICE CREAM MAKING

Today we will be...

  • learning the history of ice cream
  • making it
  • and enjoying it!!!

History:
Ice cream was originated in 3000 BC and was eaten in China. It was the late 13th century before it was transported to Italy. In Italy, they explored flavors and toppings. In the 17th century, in was moved to France where they eventually shared it with us in the US.

A couple of rules

  • Try not to make a mess
  • When we ding the bell, be quiet and listen to us
  • Don't touch anything until we tell you to
  • Have Fun!!!!

Directions

  • Now, put the vanilla extract, half and half, and sugar in the sandwich sized bag.
  • Put the ice and rock salt in the bigger bag.
  • Place the smaller bag in the bigger bag and... close tightly.
  • In your groups, line up by the cubbies and listen to us for further instructions.

things you need

  • 1 cup of half and half
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of rock salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Zip lock bags: Gallon, pint
  • Lots of ice

CAUTION
DO NOT EAT THE ROCK SALT OR SHAKE THE ICE CREAM TOO VIGOROUSLY. THE SALT WILL GET INTO YOUR ICE CREAM AND IT WILL TASTE GROSS.

Here's your ice cream!! We will dismiss you to go pour it into a bowl and grab toppings of your choice. Enjoy!!!
