HISTORY

  • This sport originated in the Canadian Provence of Nova Scotia .
  • This sport was first played in the Winter Olympics in 1920.
  • Women began playing in this sport in 1998.

HOW TO PLAY

The game is a competition between to teams attempting to hit a puck in there opponents goal.

RULES


There must be six players on the ice from both teams. Two defenders, three forwards, and one goal tender. A player from the ice committing a penalty must be removed from the pitch for a period of time.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

A hockey stick, skates, a helmet, chest pad, spine and shoulder pads, elbow pads, a jock strap, hockey shorts with special padding to prevent injuries from falls, collisions, a puck, protective gloves, shin guards, and a jersey.
