ISSUE

  • Iceland is located on a divergent boundary.
  • This causes many earthquakes and volcanic activity.
  • Volcanic activity causes disruption in air travel in the Atlantic.
  • The volcanoes in the island also posses a hazard to the people if Iceland.

WHAT IS HAPPENING

  • Iceland is the focal point of major volcanic activity in the pacific.
  • When a volcano erupts it shoots lava, ash, and rock into the atmosphere.
  • When the volcano erupts in Iceland air travel is a danger.
  • Due to the shut down of air travel many are stuck and have ti 'wait it out.'

What is Iceland is doing about it:

Iceland has one of the best volcanologist teams in the world. Iceland is aware of the issue and has placed many siesmic wave detectors over the island. Even with every precaution taken the heads up time can range from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

THE BEST SOLUTION

  • Iceland is doing a good job.
  • To combat the volcanoes better Iceland would need to widen their search.
  • With a wider search area iceland can better detect the flow of lava.
  • When iceland knows where the lava is they can have a better idea of the problen at hand.
  • When Iceland knows when the problem the can best counter it.
