Countries were surrounded by other cultures and forced to convert or think their culture were inferior
Countries tried to rebel or resorted to drastic measures to restore their lives and freedom
People were often forced to live in harsh conditions and were often enlaved and forced to work
Many people were impoverished and enslaved, making the future bleak and hopeless
Almost no countries willingly submitted to colonial rule and fought to avoid it
