  • Street names: Pot, Weed, Mary Jane
  • Usually smoked but can be mix with food and eaten
  • Effects on the body: Increased heart rate, decrease in energy
  • Interferes with concentration and memory
  • Users may experience hallucinations and panic attacks

INHALANTS

  • Street names: Huffing, sniffing
  • Common household products - fumes are breathed in
  • Adhesives, lighter fluids, cleaning solvents, & paint
  • Can cause hallucinations
  • May damage brain cells, loss of consciousness & death

STIMULANTS

  • Drugs in this category: Cocaine, Crack, Methamphetamine
  • Speed up the body functions
  • Can cause loss of coordination, physical collapse, heart failure and brain damage

HEROIN

  • Classified as a narcotic
  • Street names: Smack, H, Skag, Junk
  • Usually injected

HALLUCINOGENS

  • Drugs in ths category: PCP(Angel dust), LSD (Acid) MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • Users see, hear, or experience things which are not really there
  • Can lead to strange, and or violent behaviors
