I'm Not Moving: Rosa Parks
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama and sparked the American Civil Rights Movement of the 20th Century.
After two policemen assessed the situation, they arrested Rosa and took her into custody.
Many thought that Rosa had not given up her seat due to her being tired; she was tired, but not physically. She was tired of giving in.
On December 5th, 1955, Parks was found guilty of violating segregation laws. She was given a suspended sentence and fined $10 plus $4 in court cost.
The blacks of Montgomery boycotted the bus system from December 5th, 1955 to December 20th, 1956 to protest segregated seating. The U.S. Supreme Court ultimately ordered Montgomery to integrate its bus system.
