The African American Great Migration was a time when former slaves or African Americans would move from the south into the north

They usually would move because they were driven away by prejudice/racism

When They Arrived

They found many job opportunities in the north, but of course, racism and prejudice still spread

After They Arrived

They spread their culture by making their own cities in big city’s, like Harlem in New York.

The Experience

In total, over six million African Americans moved from the south, into the cities of the north
