The purpose of the Act is to orchestrate a coordinated program of scientifically based research, demonstration projects, innovative strategies, and similar activities that build and enhance the ability of elementary and secondary schools.
Purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State standards and assessments.
Schools are required to provide educational services to students who are educationally disadvantaged or at risk of failing to meet state standards.
Teachers are held accountable for making sure each student is provided educational services to meet state requirements.
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 & 1974
Designed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Education (ED).
Section 504 regulations require a school district to provide a "free appropriate public education" (FAPE) to each qualified student with a disability who is in the school district's jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability.
No matter the disability or severity, teachers are required to educate all of their students equally.
