Definition: a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
Throughout history countries have used imperialism efficiently and inefficiently: for example, during the time period of the late 1800's and early 1900's England was facing a time of imperialism and had taken over many foreign countries.

Although, some might think that imperialism is bad, people tend to say it effects the natives in a way they would not want to be treated.
Thought that may be true in some ways most natives would disagree and say it has lead their country on the right direction...for example, Dadabhai Naoroji, first Indian elected to the British Parliament, made this speech in 1871 on how Britain has effected India greatly,

"To sum up the whole, the British rule has been—morally, a great blessing; politically peace and order on one hand, blunders on the other, materially, impoverishment. . . . The natives call the British system “Sakar ki Churi,” the knife of sugar. That is to say there is no oppression, it is all smooth and sweet, but it is the knife, notwithstanding. I mention this that you should know these feelings. Our great misfortune is that you do not know our wants. When you will know our real wishes,

I have not the least doubt that you would do justice. The genius and spirit of the British people is fair play and justice". This shows how Britain's influence has a positive impact, while it's still working on what the people want, in-connection with every governmental system...
