• The U.S. took the midway island in the battle of MIdway.
• They took hawaii by occupying it with marines and soldiers then throwing their queen in prison.
• We acquired Somoa through the Treaty of Berlin with Britain and Germany

the Spanish/american war

• Fought mostly in the Carribean
• U.S. gained temporary control over Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Phillipine Islands.
