IMPERIALISM WAS A BAD IDEA

• Because it re-enforced racism
• Because it created rivalries between countries trying to gain control
• Because disease spread throughout Africa
• Because it destroyed the economy that the country already had

IMPERIALISM COULD HAVE BEEN GOOD

• Because you could gain more resources
• Because you could gain more territory to build factories
• Because you could spread culture and religion
• Because it helped people become more civilized

Although you can gain your recourses by taking over countries, you could also do it by trading or buying the land so that people will listen to you instead of being less resentful
