Impersonal Verbs

Impersonal Verb

  • Impersonal Verbs are verbs that do not have a subject.
  • A group of verbs which exist only in the third person singular 
  • and in various tenses. Also, it exists in the infinitive
  • Usually translated as, "it is ______"
  • This is also commonly used in weather forecasting.

Examples of Impersonal Verbs

  • Neccese est- It is necessary.
  • Licet, Licere, Licuit- It is allowed
  • Placeo, Placere, Placui- to please
  • Decet, Decere, Decuit- It is becoming, fitting
  • Oportet, Oportere, oportuit-It is fitting, ought
