inca bridges

  • The Inca had many bridges over ravines, gorges, and mountains
  • The bridges were made of  braided ropes and anchored on both sides by stone
  • Every year the bridges were replaced by local villagers
  • There is one remaining rope bridge called Q'eswachaka
  • here bridges were so strong they could hold spanish soldiers on their horse
