Who & Why?

  • Indigenous activists, wildlife rangers & others attempting to defend their community’s natural resources, land and/or wildlife
  • Indigenous activists, wildlife rangers & others attempting to defend their community’s natural resources, land and/or wildlifeRemote villages or forests that are affected by dams, illegal logging agribusiness and mining.
indigenous communtiies suffer at a gigjer rate because they are often on the ground and in the midst of the places affected by resource extraction, deforestation, environmental destruction.

In turn they are murdered at the higherst rate.

Most deaths occur in remote forests or villages affected by mining, dams, illegal logging, and agribusiness.

because of this it is really difficult to collect statistics

It is predicted that rate will only increase based on 2017's stats

More than 800 park rangers have been killed by commercial poachers and armed militia groups in the past 10 years, according to US group Global Conservation.

Highest Locations 2015 - 2017

24 countries including Mexico, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Africa

latin America has the higherst rates over all

Brazils, the highest countary, is most primarily in the amazon

while park rangers are killedthe most often in Africa and Asia, with the majority from India

Often time local peoples find temporary employment from these projects, so tensions within the community arise.
