Started from the Chatholithic Era 3600-2600 BCE to the begining of the Early Harrapan and ended in 1800 BCE
Began with the introduction of writing and a uniform culture

Over-exploitation of the enviornment
Drastic changes in river courses

There have been signs of religion connected with the civilizations
Some Indus Valley seals show swastikas, which are found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism
Other seals show animals are presented in a formal reminiscent of late Hindu gods, Shiva and Rudra
The large number of figurines found in the Indus valley bring up questions of a belief in a Mother Goddess

The Indus Valley Civilization is located in the North-Western region of the Indian Subcontinent
Covers what is today Pakistan and the Indian States of Gujarat, Rajatha , Haryana, and Punjab
The huge Indus River System waters a rich agricultural landscape
Surrounded by High Mountains, deserts and oceans
At the time it was a dense forest
