INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

OVERVIEW

  • In the 1800's in Great Britain a revolution began
  • Not a revolution involving the fury of men
  • But the ingenuity and intelligence of the people.

NATURAL ENERGY SOURCES

  • The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain led to the idea of using natural resources.
  • They used coal which powered engines and others of the sort.
  • They also used streams which had them use natural energy from the streams.

AMERICAN INGENUITY

  • They built textile factories near swiftly flowing rivers
  • The river powered the factories that led to mass production.

MASS PRODUCTION

  • Mass production led to an extreme drop in price.
  • It also led to a mass amount of slaves being taken and sent to work

THE NORTH

  • The north went from a economic hub to farming land.
  • The north now became farmers and grew what they needed.
  • What they did not eat or use they sold at markets.

THE SOUTH

  • After the Industrial Revolution many inventions were born.
  • Some of which were the cotton gin and the textile mills run on natural energy.
  • The amount of slaves in the south before the Industrial Revolution was 750,000
  • The amount of slaves during the Revolution was 1,200,000.

THE NORTH VS. THE SOUTH

THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

  • The textile industry was changed by natural energy.
  • Now the people working in these mills could run machines to do the work.

THE SIDES OF THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

  • The United States split into two sides
  • The North and the South

THE TENSION BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH

  • The North became less profitable.
  • The South took control and began selling cash crops.
  • The North was jealous of the South's power.

AMERICAN SYSTEM

  • It was created by James Madison.
  • The North would produce the manufactured goods.
  • The South would by these goods.
  • The South would produce grain, meat and cotton
  • The North would buy it.

INTERNAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • They produce National Roads and canals
  • They just improved the roads and railroads significantly

SECOND BANK OF THE US AND TARRIFS

  • The people liked the bank because it made it hard for the British
  • They raised the tax on British goods so American made goods are more affordable.
