THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION WAS A PERIOD OF RAPID GROWTH IN USE OF

MACHINES IN MANUFACTURING & PRODUCTION THAT STARTED IN THE MID-1700'S

BEFORE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION MOST THINGS

WERE MADE BY HAND.

THE FIRST BREAKTHROUGH IN THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

TOOK PLACE IN HOW CLOTH & TEXTILE WAS MADE.

TO PROGRESS THE IDEA SAMUEL SLATER

BEGAN A FACTORY MAKING THE TEXTILE MACHINES.

UNDER THE LOWELL SYSTEM ONLY YOUNG UNMARRIED

WOMAN WERE ALLOWED TO WORK AT THE TEXTILE MILLS.

CHILDREN WERE ALLOWED TO WORK IN FACTORIES

CHILDREN WERE PERMITTED TO WORK AT FACTORIES

BECAUSE THEY WERE ALLOWED TO PAY AT A LESSER AMOUNT.

THE MACHINES WERE ALSO EXTREMELY

DANGEROUS TO USE.

PAY WAS VERY LOW, AS MINIMUM OF $3.

IT IS AGAINST LAW FOR CHILDREN TO WORK UNDER

SUCH HARSH CONDITIONS AND LOW PAY NOW A DAYS.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GENDER

TO WORK AT FACTORIES NOW A DAYS.

SAFETY IS A VERY IMPORTANT PRIORITY

IN THE PRESENT DAY WORK.

WITH LONG HOURS PERMITTED IN THE INDUSTRIAL

REVOLUTION ERA LAWS HAVE BE PASSED TO MAKE HOURS MINIMAL .

ALSO PAY HAS BEEN RAISED TO A

REASONABLE WAGE.
