Railroad tracks and the Locomotive

  • Miners laid down tracks for their horses to pull carts on
  • On the track, one horse could carry as much as 20 horses could on a road
  • Later the locomotive was built. Instead of horses now trains went on tracks
  • The locomotive allowed goods and people to be transported a lot faster
  • It also allowed goods to be transported across America

INTERCHANGEABLE Parts

  • Eli Whitney recieved an order from the U.S. gov. to make 10,000 rifles

Cotton gin

  • Another invention made by Eli Whitney
  • This machine seperated the seeds from the cotton
  • It could produce 50 times as much cotton as a manual laborer
