INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION IN AMERICA
The Industrial Revolution was a period of rapid growth in the use of machines in manufacturing and production.
Cyrus McCormick invented the mechanical reaper. He was often told by friends and family to abandon his work of inventing but nonetheless became a millionaire from the reaper because of his business talents and marketing ideas.
The reaper was invented and beginner to be sold in the 1840s.
The purpose of the mechanical reaper was to harvest huge fields of wheat.
This invention impact America by reducing the time to harvest an acre of wheat from 20 hours to 1 hour. By 1860 US farmers were producing more than 170 million bushels of wheat and more than 800 million bushels of corn a year which really helped the farming industry grow. This invention mostly impacted Midwestern/Southern farmers.
The steam-powered train was first developed in Britain in the early 1800s but t they didn't get popular in the US until the 1830s.
The purpose of the train was to transport people from point A to point B in a quick manner. It also transported factory goods and freight to earn extra money.
The train impacted America by helping cities grow because trains brought new residents as well as raw retrials for industry and construction.
