PRESENTATION OUTLINE
THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
DURING THE 1800S, FACTORIES WERE ABUNDANT AND POPPING UP EVERYWHERE.
MANY INDUSTRIAL CITIES ENDED UP LOOKING LIKE THIS PICTURE.
MOST WORKERS WORKED UNDER HARSH CONDITIONS, AND VERY LONG HOURS.
DIFFERENT LAWS IN PLACE MAKE WORKING AN EASIER TASK, WITH A LIMIT IN HOURS AND MINIMUM WAGES.
SINCE THERE WERE NOT MANY LAWS ON THIS SUBJECT, CHILDREN WERE USED FREQUENTLY AS WORKERS.
THERE WERE ALSO MANY PEOPLE AGAINST CHILD LABOR.
CHILD LABOR, THOUGH NOW ILLEGAL, IS STILL A PROBLEM TODAY IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
THE MOST HARMFUL PLACE TO WORK IN DURING THIS TIME WERE MINES. HEALTH AND CAVE INS WERE ALWAYS AN ISSUE.
EVEN WITH MORE SAFETY PROTOCOLS, THEY CAN STILL BE HARMFUL TO WORK IN.
MINIMUM WAGE WAS NOT A THING IN THE 1800S, SO PAYMENT WAS USUALLY VERY LOW.
SOME WORKERS WOULD ONLY MAKE 4 DOLLARS A DAY.
INDUSTRIES WERE AT THEIR HIGHEST IN THE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, LIKE FRANCE AND GREAT BRITIAN.
THANKS TO THE LOWER WAGES, MANY WORKERS COULD BE HIRED.
WORKERS ARE NOT AS ABUNDANT IN FACTORIES TODAY, WITH THE ADVANCEMENT OF ROBOTICS.
MEN WERE MOSTLY ASSIGNED TO TOUGHER JOBS. MINING, LABOR, ETC.
WOMEN WERE USUALLY GIVEN EASIER JOBS. FACTORIES, PHONE OPERATORS, ETC.
