WHAT IS INFLUENZA

AN INFECTIOUS DISEASE OF BIRDS AND MAMMALS CAUSED BY RNA VIRUSES

COMMON SYMPTOMS

  • Chills
  • Fevers
  • Runny nose
  • Headache, usually severe
  • Sore throat

MORE SYMPTOMS

  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness/Fatigue

WHO DOES IT VICTIMIZE?

IT USUALLY IS FOUND IN YOUNGER KIDS, BUT ANYONE CAN GET IT

WHERE IS IT FOUND?

  • Influenza is transmitted through the air by coughing or sneezing.
  • And that creates aerosols that contains the virus.

DEGREE OF DAMAGE

  • The damage is like the flu. It gives you all of the symptoms
  • It is known as the "24 hour flu"
  • There is a lot of deaths each year from it

TREATMENT

  • For treatment it is more than safe to get a flu shot to try and prevent it
  • If you get it you would go to your local doctor and get meds from him.

  • Influenza spreads around the world in seasonal epidemics
  • About 3 to 5 million cases a year of severe illness.
  • About 250,000 to 500,000 yearly deaths.
  • It effects all animals also.
  • Each year the death rate is rising.
