WHAT ARE INFRARED WAVES?
They are electromagnetic waves in the wavelength band between 10^-6m and 10^-3m that can be used to transfer heat from a hot object to a cool object.

WHO DISCOVERED INFRARED WAVES?
Sir Frederick William Herschel

WHEN WERE INFRARED WAVES DISCOVERED?
Herschel made this dramatic discovery in 1800. He wanted to know how much heat was passed through the different colored filters he used to observe sunlight. He noted that filters of different colors seemed to pass different amounts of heat. Herschel thought that the colors themselves might be of varying temperatures and experimented in finding more information.

Where were these waves discovered?
Herschel lived in England with his sister Caroline where they built telescopes. There he found the planet Uranus & later founded Infrared Waves.

Where do infrared waves originate in nature?
Infrared waves can be found in sunlight, fire,a radiator or a hot sidewalk.
