WHAT ARE INHALANTS?

  • Any volatile substance
  • Refers to any vapors that can be inhaled.
  • Category: Depressants

PRODUCTS USED FOR INHALANTS

  • Shoe polish, glue, gasoline, etc..
  • Any household items like cleaning supplies.

IS IT ADDICTIVE

  • Yes, they are addictive

CONSUMERS

  • Adults and teenagers because:
  • They are commonly found and are usually household items.

SHORT TERM EFFECTS

  • Nausea, vomiting, lack of coordination
  • Headaches and hallucinations

LONG TERM EFFECTS

  • Kidney damage, hearing loss, bone marrow damage
  • Death

STREET NAMES

  • Bolt, airblasts, Amy's, hippie crack, etc...
  • Most common ones are: laughing gas, poor man's pot and Satan's secret.

STATISTICS

  • A survey found an annual average of teens aged 12 to 17 had used inhalants
  • They used it for the first time in the year before they took the survey

CONCLUSION

  • A majority of teens use inhalants along with adults
  • found commonly
  • Addictive
  • Can cause death
  • And overall a bad choice
