WHAT IS AN INSECTICIDE AND HERBICIDE

  • An insecticide is a substance used for killing insects.
  • A herbicide is a substance that is toxic to plants and is used to destroy unwanted vegetation.

ADV/ DISADV OF INSECTICIDE

  • An advantage is that it kills more pests in one shot.
  • Another advantage is you spend less time in your garden.
  • A disadvantage is that it kills beneficial insects also.
  • Another disadvantage is runoff can leach into the ground and make drinking bad

  • An advantage is that it kills bad weeds
  • Another advantage is that it kills a lot of bad plants at once
  • A disadvantage is that it can poison eating crops
  • It can also kill off needed weeds and harm soil

WHAT THEY DO TO THE SOIL

  • The use of pesticides decreases the general biodiversity in the soil.
  • They decrease soil fertility
  • They are inherently bad for the and ground break up microorganisms
  • Overall these are very bad for the soil but good for crops
  • They also get in the water in the soil making it hazardous to drink
