The Initiative

Description

  • We are seeking funding to support training and for faculty, staff, students and families to build intercultural competence to better meet the unique needs of a multi-national student body.

Main Components

  • Diversity Week with "SocialCentric"
  • Training for teachers and students
  • Outreach to feeder schools

The Need

Justification

  • 2017 WASC/CAIS recommendation: Increase multicultural competence
  • To better prepare our students to participate in an increasingly globalized world
  • To increase a sense of empathy and social awareness
  • Bridge gap between our domestic and international students

The Budget

Year 1 Budget

  • Speaker Fees: $7000
  • Marketing and Supplies: $1500
  • Hospitality: $500
  • Faculty Stipends: $5000
  • TOTAL: $14,000

Continuing Annual Budget

  • Annual stipend for moderators: $2000
  • Honorarium for add'l faculty: $2000
  • Supplies: $1000
  • TOTAL: $5000

On-campus Component

  • Semi-annual reports send to funders
