• Enlarges it's endoplasmic reticulum
• Makes new ribosomes
• Matures in this stage
• Creates enzymes
• Mitochondria and chloroplasts make copies of themselves

DNA Replication

• Makes a replication of the DNA
• DNA is a nucleic acid found in the chromatin
• Each daughter cell needs a complete set of DNA to survive

PREPARATION FOR CELL DIVISION

• Once the cell's DNA is replicated, preparation for cell division begins
• Builds structures that it will use to divide during the rest of the cell cycle
• At the end of this stage the cell is ready to divide
