What is AKD?

AKD is...

• A sociology club open to all majors!
• An international sociology honors society!
• Founded in 1920 by Dr. Emory S. Bogardus.

AKD is...

• Purpose: Seeks to acknowledge and promote student excellence in the study of sociology , research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities to improve the human condition.

AKD MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

• Overall GPA: 3.3 & Sociology GPA: 3.0
• Take 4 Sociology Classes
• Attend 4 Community Service Events
• Attend 4 Fundraising Events
• Raise $50 in Fundraising
• Attend 2 Social Events
• Attend 6 General Meetings

AKD MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

• Pay the one-time, lifetime fee of $40 to the AKD chapter office for complete membership & obtain a certificate at graduation.
• Sash and cords can also be purchased for graduation.

• "Can gender be learned and unlearned? Two siblings separated at birth are brought up in the habits of the opposite gender until love crosses their paths..."
• Exploring the concepts of what gender means, how gender affects the way we interact, and the role it can play in romantic relationships.

• Volunteers from 9am-3pm; positions will be assigned
• Provided a small breakfast & complimentary lunch from food vendors
