Survey

  • uses questionnaires/interviews to gather info
  • for certain specific aspects of a subjects behavior

Naturalistic Observation

  • researchers engage in careful observation of behavior
  • they don't intervene directly with the subjects

Longitudinal Study

  • subjects are study throughout different periods of time
  • over the same variable of time

Experiment

  • manipulation of independent variable 
  • under carefully controlled conditions 
  • to see whether any changes occur

Correlational Study

  • correlation means relationship
  • used to determine the direction and how strong the relationship is
  • Positive correlation both variables go up
  • Negative correlation the variables are in opposite directions
  • No coreelation means the variables have no relationship

Case Study

  • in-depth investigation of an individual subject
  • uses direct interview, direct observation, other data collection technique
  • very close study over individual or group of people
