I’m from Virginia; he’s from Pennsylvania; we met in college, at Virginia Tech.

My kids are part of Central York SD. Christopher is in 5th grade, Ryan is in 2nd, and Ashleigh will be starting kindergarten this fall!

I started my teaching journey at Virginia Tech where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. After that, I earned a master’s in Elementary Ed. with a reading focus, from Duquesne University.

Living in Pittsburgh, I taught 3rd Grade for several years in addition to 4th and 5th. After my second son, I took a few years off to move to York and be home with my kids while teaching Kindermusik classes.

Four years ago I started teaching in the elementary schools again.

I’ve just recently begun working on my masters in Ed Tech through Wilson College & Eduspire. This is my 4th course thus far and my comfort with current technology is directly related to my experiences in these courses.

I’ve taken iPads in Ed I, The Flipped Classroom, and Computational Thinking & Coding. While I still have so much to learn, I’m very comfortable trying new things (apps, programs, devices) and feel that I have a strong understanding of the basics of “new” technologies and how they can be used.

My district is 1:1 with iPads and I use a lot of digital storytelling apps with my students but would like to learn to use them “better” and in more meaningful ways. I’m also interested in how I might use digital storytelling for myself as an educator.
