  • Separation of words that normally appear together

  • Puzzling constructions that don't fit in any category

  • Pun: Words that sound the same but have different meanings ("I bee stung!")
  • Metaphor: Comparison of two unlike things by saying one thing is something else (Her eyes are the sun.)
