iPAD INSTRUCTIONS

These slides will show you how to use basic functions of the iPad.

VOLUME

The volume buttons and switch are on the upper right side.

  • The lower button turns the volume down.
  • The upper button turns the volume up.
  • The switch above both can mute the iPad and perform other functions.

Powering on and off

The power button of the iPad is on top of the iPad and near the top right corner.

  • Press the power button to turn the iPad on and off.
  • Pressing the power button also takes a picture if pressed at the same time as the home button.

A quick note about the side switch

In the settings, you can decide on what the side switch does in "General".

The side switch can also lock the screen rotation alongside muting.

Multitasking gestures

These features make iPad use more fluid and require four or more fingers.

  • Swiping four fingers to the side switches between the apps currently in use.
  • Rubbing four fingers up the touchscreenu brings up a task bar or screen (depending on the software version) where apps can be closed.
  • Pinching five fingers together on the to touchscreen brings up the home page.

Bookmarking

Touching on the square with an upward arrow (the share button) will bring up icons, including a book. Touch that to bookmark the current page.

As well as bookmarking, it can add icons of pages to the home page. Click on he share button and then the plus button that says "add to home page".

Deleting and organizing apps

Touching an app (and not letting go) and then dragging it will enable you to organize apps. The "x" enables you to delete them. In order to exit this mode, press the home button.

When the keyboard stops working

If the keyboard on the touchscreen is displayed but will not register and type letters, pressing the keyboard icon on the bottom right will bring the keyboard down. Click on a space that requires typing and the keyboard should work normally.
