This is the story of the prophet Isaiah. But first, you should probably know what a prophet is. A prophet is someone who has been called by God and filled with God's spirit. Their job is to preach to sinners and people who don't believe in God.
Isaiah was born sometime in the 700s B.C. That was a very long time ago, so almost nothing is known about he childhood. His dad was named Amos, and no one knows who his mom is.
This is how Isaiah became a prophet. In the year that king Uzziah died, Isaiah saw The Lord. He was sitting on his throne, high and proud, and his robe filled the whole temple. Around him, creatures on fire were standing, and each of them had six wings. They were calling out to each other, "Holy, holy, holy! The Lord almighty is holy! His glory fills the world.
Then, one of the creatures flew down to Isaiah, and touched his lips with a burning coal. The coal erased his guilt and forgave his sins. The Lord told Isaiah to give everyone a message. The message was "No matter how much you listen, you will not understand. No matter how much you look, you will not know what is happening. Then he said " Make the minds of these people dull, their ears deaf, and their eyes blind, so that they cannot see hear or understand.
If they did, they might turn to me to be healed." Then Isaiah tells everyone this message. What God meant by this message was that everyone would not be able to think, see, or hear properly so that everyone will leave and have a new beginning. The whole village would be abandoned and would look like this. This is how his teachings spread throughout the world.
Being a prophet is a huge job. Some people may try to hurt you for preaching God's word. Your entire life would be devoted to saying what God wants you to tell his people. Imagine how Isaiah felt.
