• First thing infant hears
• Last thing heard before death
• Surrender to God

SaLAT

SALAT

• Called to prayer by Muezzin
• Focus as much as one can on God
• Face the Ka’aba in Mecca
• Wash hands and feet (Wudu) before praying

ZAKAT

ZAKAT

• Donate 2.5% of surplus wealth
• Goes to fountains, inns soup kitchens, clothing, shelter, orphanages, hospitals, school fees and teacher’s salaries
• Can donate directly or to religious officials
• Honor system

SAWAM

SAWM

• No eating or drinking during daytime hours
• Donate money (Zakat) during this time
• Meal before dawn, and meal after dark
• People who are sick, pregnant, elderly, or young don’t need to fast

HAJJ

HAJJ

• Men wear Ihram (white sheets)
• Pray and camp at mount Arafat
• Go around the Kaaba seven times counterclockwise
• Sacrifice an animal and throw stones at pillars representing Satan
