• Islam was founded in CE610 by a prophet named Mhammad

• Muhammad got a message from Angle Gabriel
• God Allah wants people of Mecca to stop worshiping idols and accept God Allah
• He wanted Muhammad to spread the message to the people
• He told is family ad they became the first muslims

• People of Mecca persecuted Muhammad for 10 years 
• The holy prophets traveled to Medina
• The prophets lived in small mud houses that is now expanded and decorated

• The Mecca and Muslims fought many battles.
• The battle of Uhud in CE625 was the beginning of Islam

Who  the Islams worshiped

• They worshiped the God Allah
• Names of God Allah Bismillah: in name of Allah
• Alhamdo Lillah: praise be to Allah 
• InshaAllah: If Allah wills  
• MashaAllah: By Allah's grace

• Praying with Tasbih(prayer beads)
• You will earn a place in heaven by saying the 99 names of Allah
• One bead for each name as a prayer

• The cleaning ritual was called Wudu
• It was a ritual they did before praying 
• They said a special prayer as they washed 

worship/prayer Mat

• There are 10 actions done on the prayer mat 
• Allaho-Akbar (god is great) is repeated between actions 
• Worshiper says Al-fatiha prayer 

Muslim Festivals/Eid

• On Eid Muslims woke early in the morning 
• preparing for mosque where special Eid prayers are held 
• woman and men sat separately 
• Greeted each other with Eid blessings
