PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ISTE Standards for Students

by Dan St. Cyr

Most Growth: Knowledge Constructor

Why this standard?

  • All the work I've done for colloquium has made me a more effective researcher
  • This class has given me access to a great deal of resources and information

Most Room for Growth: Innovative Designer

Why this standard?

  • Soon I will actually be implementing designs for material, rather than just designing them
  • I hope student teaching will be able to help me grow in this regard

My imaginary future students excel at:

  • Being Empowered Learners

How Can I support my Students?

  • By offering a variety of options for assessment and learning.
  • Allowing students to explore the appropriate tech tools for different tasks

My Imaginary future students need to work on:

  • Digital Citizenship
  • Its long, but this video illustrates my concern for the students of the not too distant future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kBlH-DQsEg
  • It is increasingly common for people, especially young people, to be unconcerned with their privacy

How can I help my students grow?

  • Social Studies Lesson: Data and how it is used. Is Privacy important?

Tech Tool Reflection 1

  • I decided to utilize Haiku Deck for this week.
  • I did so because I wanted to explore another type of presentation tool

Tech Tool Reflection 2

  • I learned it is a very pretty and cleanly presented tool.
  • However, I think that options are generally limited in the free version. Its also not particularly Intuitive.
  • Overall I am rather disappointed. I prefer Prezi and Google Slides to Haiku Deck

Tech Tool Reflection 3

  • I once worked in my high schools radio program, so I think revisiting some audio editing would be interesting
  • Additionally I think that video editing might be interesting as well.
