JACKIE ROBINSON

EARLY LIFE

• Born in Cario, Georgia in 1919
• Jack Roosevelt Robinson
• His single mother raised him and his four other siblings by herself
• They were the only family of color that loved in their neighborhood

HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE YEARS

• Attended John Muir high school
• He played football,baseball,basketball,and ran track
• After high school he attended UCLA
• Jackie was the first athlete ever to receive varsity letters in all four sports

MILITARY

• Financial troubles in college
• Was forced to join the US Army
• His military career was cut short
• Ended up leaving on honorable discharge

KANSAS CITY MONARCHS

• 1945 jackie played one year in the negro league
• Traveled all over the Midwest
