COLLEGE CAREER

  • Jackie R. went to PJC (Pasadena Junior College) 1938-1939
  • After he went to Pasadena Junior College, he transferred to UCLA.
  • In UCLA history, Jackie was the first athlete to letter 4 sports.
  • When Jackie stood up for a guy in college, he was then arrested.

JACKIE IN THE ARMY

  • Jackie wanted to go to Officer Candidate School, so Boxer Joe Louis helped him.
  • Jackie had earned his promotion to 2nd lieutenant in 1943.
  • Platoon leader of Company B of the 761st was Jackie Robinson on April 1944.
  • He had disobeyed the court-martial. And was acquitted to the charges in 1944.
  • Jackie accepts an honorable discharge from the army and returned home to Cali.

BROOKLYN DODGERS

  • Jackie was hated by other teams and team mates because he was a different color.
  • A team mate couldn't stand to see Jackie's feeling getting hurt, so he stood up for him.
  • Peewee Reese was the only guy to stand up for Jackie Robinson.
  • On April 15, 2004, the Dodgers were required to wear 42 jerseys to represent Jackie on Robinson's day.
