Born: January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia
Other sports: football, baseball,tennis, and basketball.
He went to college at UCLA
And starred in track, baseball, football, and basketball.
After his career of a football player came to a end he was in World War 2.

CAREER
He 1st played baseball for the Kansas City Monarchs
He joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947
He became the 1st african american to play baseball in the major legue.
He won Rookie of the Year his 1st year.
In his career he hit a batting average of .311, hit 137 homeruns, and stole 197 bases.

ENDING
In 1962 he was elected to the baseball Hall Of Fame.
He died of an heart attack on October 24, 1972
