CHARACTERISTICS

  • Predators with a very diverse diet.
  • Thick bodies with massive jaws and short tails.
  • They are endangered because they're hunted for their fur.
  • They eat anything from deer to fish. Very good swimmers.
  • Solitary animals. Can live up to 22 years. Have 1-4 cubs.

HABITAT

  • They live in Central and South America.
  • They live in equatorial rain forests.
  • Prefer to live near fresh water.
  • Also live in forests, Savannah's, Mexico, scrub country, and deserts

KEYSTONE SPECIES

  • They keep species numbers in balance.
  • The Moche worshiped them for being predators
  • Of the night.
  • Part of the Felidae family.
