About the invention

  • An improvement from the Newcomen Steam Engine.
  • This invention was built in Kinneil and finished on September 1769.
  • It's known as " The Watt Engine"
  • Its first purpose was to pump water out from coal mines.
  • Later on, it was extended to be used in paper, flour, cotton, and Iron mills.
  • As well as waterworks, canals, distilleries and water works.

The impact of the invention

  • It created jobs for people because the number of factories and mills increased.
  • Decreased animal labour.
  • Improved Production Techniques
  • For example : mass production, which gave cheaper goods and improved quality.
  • provided efficient and quicker ways for transportation of goods.
