What happened on Friday march 11th, 2011?

There was a massive tsunami that struct Japan, it was a magnitude of 9.
It was the most powerful earthquake in Japanese history. The tsunami moved at a speed of 500mph.

What was the aftermath?

Many buildings were destroyed, and nuclear power plants were shut down
High-rise buildings were destroyed. About 10,000 Japanese citizens died.

What is Japan's current population?

126,981,371...and counting

What is the economy like in japan?

The Japanese economy is one of the third largest in the world

What is nuclear power?

An electric or motive power generated by a nuclear reactor.

why is it a problem in this case?

There has been accidents in Japan that included the Fukushima nuclear plant
After the tsunami hit Japan, it caused equipment, meltdowns, and a release of radioactive material.

WHen did japan hit it's first earthquake/tsunami, what were the results?

Japan's first earthquake was in 1891
It was a magnitude of 8.4. The damaged caused over a 4,200 square mile radius. It killed over 7,000 people. The results were devastating. Everything was destroyed except for the modern Western buildings and Japanese wooden houses.
