An explorer is a person who is brave and never gives up. I looked back in the text to find evidence. When I was reading, I found evidence that showed why they were brave. Jean Ribault was Brave to discover different new lands. I also read that he never gave up even though exploring was difficult.

Ribault was a brave man because he went somewhere he had never been and he wasn't scared.
Ribault also went to discover new lands and a new world. Discovering the new world was difficult but he never gave up. He just did it. Ribault never gave up on anything.

1. Jean Ribault was born in 1520
2. Jean Ribault lived in Dieppe in France.
3. France wanted to control this new land and drive out the Spanish settlers.
4. In 1562, Jean Ribault was sent from France to Florida in order to explore the area and begin a new colony.
5. Jean Ribault sailed out three ships that carried 150 people.
6. Jean Ribault found a river called the St. Johns river.

7. Ribault went to prison because Queen Elizabeth thought it was bad that he started a French colony in a Spanish land.
8. Later Ribault was let out of jail.
9. Ribault was told to go back to America by the French empire with 500 fighters.
10. Jean's idea was to help and take command of fort Caroline.
11. Menendez didn't want the French in Florida, so he wanted to tell them not to be there.
12. Menendez build a fort at st.Augustine, south of fort Caroline.
13. Ribualt tried to capture st.Augustine but ribalt's ships got broken by a big storm.
14. Menendez and 500 soldiers walked north and broke down fort Caroline.
15. Menendez found ribault and his shipwrecked sailors and killed Ribault.

I choose Jean Ribault because I liked what he did in his life time. And he also did other good things. And Ribault began a new colony.

Studying these explorers is important because we learn how people discovered new lands.

Going to middle school is like being an explorer because we will discover new things, new ways to do work, and do better in school.

In this project, I learned a lot about my explorer but I also learned how to use Haiku Deck.
