ROLE IN THE CIVIL WAR
- On February 1861 Alabama selected Jefferson Finis Davis to become the President of the Confederacy. He would be expected to serve for a six year term.
- Davis did not want this job, as he was instead hoping for a military command.
- Jefferson Davis was forced to flee on April 2, 1865. On May 10, 1865 he was captured by Northern soldiers near Irwinville, Georgia.

AFTER THE WAR
- Jefferson Davis was imprisoned at Fort Monroe, Virginia for two years.
- Davis struggled to make a living and lived off of charity and friends.
- Jefferson Finis Davis finally died in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 6, 1889.
