  • False testimony given against Jesus (Matthew 26:59-60; Mark 14:56)
  • Peter denies Christ 3 times (Matthew 26:69-75)
  • Jesus delivered to Pilate (Roman governor) Matthew 27:1-2
  • Pilate finds no guilt (Luke 23:4)

Jesus' Death (Build Up)

  • Pilate hands Jesus over to Herod b/c He was a Galilean (Luke 23:6-7)
  • Herod finds no guilt & sends Jesus back to Pilate (Luke 23:13-15)
  • Pilate gives in to the pressure (Luke 23:18-25)

Jesus' Crusifixion

  • Jesus was sentenced to death by crusifixion
  • He was to be hung on a cross, a cruel and humiliating death sentence.
  • Jesus was crucified at a placed called Golgotha (John 19:17)
  • He was crucified with 2 thieves, one on each side of Jesus (John 19:18)

Jesus' Crusifixion

  • Needed help carrying cross (Luke 23:26-27)
  • Nails driven through His hands and feet
  • Soldiers cast lots for his clothing (John 19:23-24)
  • Jesus mother came to the cross (John 19:25-27)
  • Jesus said "It is finished." (John 19:30)
  • Jesus died on that cross!

Burial of Jesus

  • Jesus' body could not stay on the cross
  • Joseph of Arimathea took the body of Jesus
  • Nicodemus brought myrrh and aloes.
  • They bound the body of Jesus in linen cloths & spices as is customary for Jews.
  • Jesus was placed in a new tomb and stone was rolled over the opening.

Resurrection of Jesus

  • 1st day of the week (John 20:1; Luke 24:1; Matthew 28:1)
  • Stone was rolled away (Luke 24:2)
  • Mary Magdalene went to the tomb, but did not find the body of Jesus (John 20:1-2)
  • Angel appears to Mary telling her Jesus has risen (Matthew 28:2-7)
  • Jesus and Mary (Matthew 28:8-10)

Resurrection of Jesus

  • Jesus appears to the other disciples (Road to Emmaus - Luke 24:13-35; John 20:19-23)
  • Jesus and Thomas (John 20:24-29)
  • Jesus is on earth again for a short period of time.
  • Jesus ascended into Heaven to be with God (Luke 24:50-51)

Romans 6:3-4
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

He longs for your love and obedience!
