THE FIRST JEWISH HOLIDAY IS...

  • The passover, which takes 8 days (7 in Israel) in the month of April
  • It is to celebrate the escape of slavery in Egypt into the promise land
  • One custom is not putting yeast into their bread and eating it
  • It is to remember when the Jewish ran and left without

THE NEXT HOLIDAY IS THE ROSH HOSHANA

  • It is in the month of September or October and it lasts for two days
  • The holiday is to celebrate the Jewish New Year
  • One of their customs is to plan changes like lose weight or something
  • They don't work for those two days and go to church called the Synagogues
  • There they blow a horn called the shofar

THE NEXT ONE IS CALLED THE YOM KIPPUR

  • It is the month of September or October and lasts 25 hours
  • This is to make amends for the sins they did the past year
  • The people do not work for those hours and go to the church,
  • Then they pray and do not eat for that long
  • And apologize for the things they did wrong the past year

THE LAST HOLIDAY IS HANUKKAH

  • It is in the month of the December and it lasts for 8 days
  • It is to celebrate religious freedom and the rededication
  • of the temple in Jerusalem
  • They light candles every night and give gifts then they eat
  • Fried food and play a game called dreidel

A MENORAH

  • A menorah is a place to hold eight
  • candles used by Jews to celebrate hanukkah
