How did Jim Crow Laws affect African American

  • African Americans were unable to vote.
  • They were forced to use seperate drinking fountains.
  • Had to attend separate buildings from the white people.

What were the Jim Crow Laws?

  • Racial segregation state and local laws made after the Reconstruction period and was continuely forced until 1965.

Where did the Jim Crow Laws apply?

  • The Jim Crow Laws applied only in the Southern states.

Who were the Jim Crow Laws named after?

  • Throughout the 1830s and 40s, Thomas Dartmouth Rice a white entertainer, performed a song-and-dance act and supposedly modeled after a slave. The characters was named Jim Crow.

Why were the Jim Crow Laws created?

  • They were created to separate African American and white people from the slightest contact. In 1810 white people thought African Americans were put on this earth to work.

When were the Jim Crow Laws passed?

  • The Jim Crow Laws were passed the time between 1874 and 1975.
