jimi's parents would often fight when intoxicated, Due to the violence and his brother Leon being in and out of foster care Jimi attached to a broom stick as a security blanket, he pretended that it was a electric guitar for about a year. After his parents divorced Al got custody of Jimi and Leon, Jimi's mom died of liver cirrhosis.

Challenges Jimi was very poor growing up and witnessed his parents fight a lot when intoxicated. this lead to Jimi abusing of alcohol and drugs, Jimi was normally a nice person but when he got drunk he became very aggressive.
Turning point During a a show in new york, Linda keith (the girlfriend of one of the Rolling Stones guitarist) noticed Jimi and Invited him for a drink, she recommended him to the rolling stones manager but he failed to see potential in him and rejected him. She then referred him to Chas Chandler, a member from the band The Animals, Chas brought Jimi to London and signed him a contract. They later recruited Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell, and thus became The Jimi Hendrix Experience
